I used the yahoo default league scoring to judge who had the best roto performance among all NHL rookies through January.Goals/Assists/Plus-Minus/Power Play Points/PIMS/Shots on Goal
Now these rankings are not on projected basis or positional importance. They are based on who actually performed the best in the roto categories amongst all NHL rookies through January.
So players like Colin Fraser will be listed above players like Oscar Moller and Max Paccioretty because he has played more games. His fantasy impact may be less, but he has been more productive because he has been in the lineup.
Kris Versteeg still tops the list, but Blake Wheeler and Bobby Ryan are making their move. I expect that barring injury, Ryan will be atop this list by the end of the season.
1. Kris Versteeg (Chi - RW)
2. Blake Wheeler (Bos - RW)
3. Patrick Berglund (STL - C)
4. Bobby Ryan (Ana - RW)
5. James Neal (Dal - LW)
6. Mikael Grabovski (Tor - C)
7. Troy Brouwer (Chi - RW)
8. Jakub Voracek (CBJ - RW)
9. Steven Stamkos (TB - C)
10. Drew Doughty (LAK - D)
11. Michael Frolik (Fla - C)
12. Brandon Crombeen (STL - RW)
13. Derrick Brassard (CBJ - C)
14. Kyle Okposo (NYI - RW)
15. Cal Clutterbuck (Min - RW)
16. Jannik Hansen (Van - RW)
17. Mikkel Boedker (Phx - LW)
18. Wayne Simmonds (LAK - RW)
19. Alex Goligoski (Pit - D)
20. Colin Fraser (Chi- C)
21. Chris Stewart (Col - RW)
22. Kyle Turris (Phx - C)
23. TJ Oshie (STL - C)
24. Luke Schenn (Tor - D)
25. Matt Hunwick (Bos - D)
Bubble: Matt D'Agostini, Nikolai Kulemin, Oscar Moller, Tomas Pilhal, Adam Pardy, Adam Winchester, Luca Sbisa
Now this is the result of weighting all categories equally which rotisserie rankings do. Being number one in goal scoring is the same as being number one in penalty minutes. It is one of the reasons I don't believe in PIMs in Fantasy Hockey.
