January Rotisserie Rankings - Defense

I used the yahoo default league scoring to judge who had the best roto performance among all NHL defencemen through January.

Goals/Assists/Plus-Minus/Power Play Points/PIMS/Shots on Goal

Now these rankings are not on projected basis or positional importance. They are based on who actually performed the best in the roto categories amongst all NHL defensemen through January.

Sheldon Souray has returned to the fantasy elite and continues to lead all defensemen, a fantasy superstar because fantasy only counts half the game. Dion Phaneuf has rebounded from a slow start to pass the rest of the field and is knocking on the door for top spot.

1. Sheldon Souray (Edm - D)
2. Dion Phaneuf (Cgy - D)
3. Mike Green (Was - D)
4. Zdeno Chara (Bos - D)
5. Rob Blake (SJS - D)
6. Shea Weber (Nas - D)
7. Chris Pronger (Ana - D)
8. Dan Boyle (SJS - D)
9. Scott Niedermayer (Ana - D)
10. Ed Jovanovski (Phx - D)
11. Jay Bouwmeester (Fla - D)
12. Dennis Wideman (Bos - D)
13. Andrei Markov (Mtl - D)
14. Niklas Lidstrom (Det - D)
15. Fedor Tyutin (CBJ - D)
16. Mark Streit (NYI - D)
17. Pavel Kubina (Tor - D)
18. Stephane Robidas (Dal - D)
19. Duncan Keith (Chi - D)
20. Joe Corvo (Car- D)
21. Marek Zidlicky (Min - D)
22. Brent Burns (Min - D)
23. Kyle Quincey (LAK - D)
24. Christian Erhoff (SJS - D)
25. Brian Rafalski (NJD - D)

Bubble: Kevin Bieksa, Joni Pitkanen, Alexander Edler, Ryan Suter, Kimmo Timonen, Mike Commodore, Keith Ballard, Bryan McCabe, John Michael Liles, Roman Hamrlik

Now this is the result of weighting all categories equally which rotisserie rankings do. Being number one in goal scoring is the same as being number one in penalty minutes. It is one of the reasons I don't believe in PIMs in Fantasy Hockey.
