November Rotisserie Rankings - Rookies

I used the yahoo default league scoring to judge who had the best roto performance among all NHL rookies in October.

Goals/Assists/Plus-Minus/Power Play Points/PIMS/Shots on Goal

Now these rankings are not on projected basis or positional importance. They are based on who actually performed the best in the roto categories amongst all NHL rookies in October.

Columbus Blue Jacket rookie Derick Brassard continues to lead the way through November, but he has been joined by Kris Versteeg. The chosen one Steven Stamkos comes in at number 5, but until recently has been spinning his wheels. Their are TWO representatives from God's team and the 2016 parade planning is already under way in Toronto.

1. Derick Brassard (CBJ -C)
1. Kris Versteeg (CHI - RW)
2. Mikhail Grabovski (TOR - C) +6
4. Oscar Molller (LAK - C)
5. Steven Stamkos (TB - C) -2
6. Blake Wheeler (BOS - LW) +13
7. Troy Brouwer (CHI - RW)
8. Jakub Voracek (CBJ - RW)
9. Jannik Hansen (VAN - RW)
10. Alex Goligoski (PIT - D) +8
11. Drew Doughty (LAK - D) +14
12. Mikkel Boedker (PHX - RW)
13. Nikolai Kulemin (TOR - LW)
14. Patrik Berglund (STL - C)
15. Luke Schenn (TOR - D) +10
16. Michael Frolik (FLA - C)
17. Kevin Porter (PHX - C)
18. Benoit Pouliot (MIN - C) +7
19. Brandon Crombeen (STL - RW)
20. Patric Hornqvist (NAS- RW)
21. Jesse Winchester (OTT - RW)
22. Wayne Simmonds (LAK - RW)
23. Nate Thompson (NYI - C)
24. Kyle Okposo (NYI - RW) -9
25. Tomas Plihal (SJS - C)

Bubble: Kyle Turris, Luca Sbisa, Colin Fraser, Viktor Tikhonov, Brandon Sutter, Matt Hunwick, Anssi Salmela, Derek Dorsett, Bobby Ryan, Fabian Brunnstrom

Now this is the result of weighting all categories equally which rotisserie rankings do. Being number one in goal scoring is the same as being number one in penalty minutes. It is one of the reasons I don't believe in PIMs in Fantasy Hockey.

November Rotisserie Rankings - Goalies

Once again I used the yahoo default league scoring to judge who had the best roto performance among all NHL goaltenders in October.

Wins/Goals Against Average/Save Percentage/Shutouts

Now these rankings are not on projected basis or positional importance. They are based on who actually performed the best in the roto categories amongst all NHL goaltenders in October, with the minimum of 10 games played. So Brian Boucher once again was not eligible for this list.

November Rotisserie Rankings - Skaters

I used the yahoo default league scoring to judge who had the best roto performance among all NHL skaters through November.

Goals/Assists/Plus-Minus/Power Play Points/PIMS/Shots on Goal

Now these rankings are not on projected basis or positional importance. They are based on who actually performed the best in the roto categories amongst all NHL skaters through the first 2 months of the season.

Alexander the Great, a man who never saw a shot (117) he did not like, returned to form and lead by the Shots on Goal category powered his way to the top of the rotisserie rankings. The biggest surprise in the ranking is Shea Weber and the ancient Rob Blake powering in at number 6 and 7. Marian Hossa the October leader dropped to number 9.

1. Alexander Ovechkin (Was - LW)
2. Sidney Crosby (Pit - C)
3. Corey Perry (Ana - RW)
4. Evgeni Malkin (Pit - C)
5. Marc Savard (Bos - C)

12. Eric Staal (Car - C)
13. Thomas Vanek (Buf - LW)
14. Mike Richards (Phi - C) +19
15. Jeff Carter (Phi - C)
16. Dion Phaneuf (Cgy - D)
17. Dan Boyle (SJS - D)
18. Devin Setoguchi (SJS - RW) +28
19. Dustin Brown (LAK - RW) debut
20. Patrick Marleau (SJ - C)
21. Zach Parise (NJ - LW)
22. Henrik Zetterberg (Det - C)
23. Brandon Dubinsky (NYR - C) -19
24. Ryan Clowe (SJS - LW) +20
25. Bill Guerin (NYI - RW) debut
26. Dany Heatley (Ott - LW)
27. Sheldon Souray (Edm - D) debut
28. Patrick Sharp (Chi - RW)
29. Patrick Elias (NJ - LW)

35. Mikael Samuelsson (Det - RW)
36. Chris Pronger (Ana - D)
37. Nikolai Zherdev (NYR - RW)
38. Patrick Kane (Chi - RW) debut
39. Daniel Sedin (Van - LW) debut
40. Phil Kessel (Bos - RW)
41. Trent Hunter (NYI - RW) debut
42. David Booth (Fla - LW) debut
43. Simon Gagne (Phi - LW) debut
44. Joe Pavelski (SJS - C) debut
45. Joe Thornton (SJS - C) debut
46. Alexander Semin (Was - LW) - 35
47. Jason Chimera (CBJ- LW) debut
48. Jason Spezza (Ott - C)
49. Niklas Hagman (Tor - RW)
50. Ilya Kovalchuk (Atl - LW)

Bubble: Markus Naslund, Brian Gionta, Chris Drury, Zdeno Chara, Milan Lucic, Scott Gomez, Keith Tkachuk, Alex Kovalev

Dropped: Rene Bourque, Mike Green, Martin Havlat, Alex Burrows, Aaron Voros, Sergei Federov, Sean Avery, Paul Mara, Joe Sakic, Christian Ehrhoff

Now this is the result of weighting all categories equally which rotisserie rankings do. Being number one in goal scoring is the same as being number one in penalty minutes. It is one of the reasons I don't believe in PIMs in Fantasy Hockey.

That being said, all of these numbers are early, and when the stars heat up it will offer them greater seperation from the Niklas Hagman and Rene Bourque's of the world. But their have definitely been some fantasy surprises to begin 2009.

Now this is the result of weighting all categories equally which rotisserie rankings do. Being number one in goal scoring is the same as being number one in penalty minutes. It is one of the reasons I don't believe in PIMs in Fantasy Hockey.

Now these rankings are not on projected basis or positional importance. They are based on who actually performed the best in the roto categories amongst all NHL skaters in October.

I was surpised to find that Benedict Arnold himself Marian Hossa was the most valuable Roto hockey player in the first month of the season. I have tabulated all the relevant statistics to form my top 50 below.

1. Marian Hossa (Det - RW)
